Work performed
- A TEST card, Lucas's own, used to try techniques before the Deadpool #43 and Cable #15 went to CGC's Rob Liefeld signing. Not submitted anywhere.
- A zone walk of the front, scored out loud, and a look over the back.
- Dry wipe with a microfiber and a disposable cloth, front and back. The back was dull and came up clean.
- Water applied locally to the edges and worked with a roller, on the left side of the back and the right side of the front. Lucas judged on camera that it went too far: the rolling shows.
- Polished with Card Doc cleaner, front and back.
- Pressed between parchment under a high-pressure clamp for 24 hours, 2026-10-07 to 2026-10-08 (about an hour was planned).
- Out of the press it "looks practically brand new", but one small piece did not come out, and the rolled edge still shows in the light. Lucas's conclusion for the real cards: clean and press only, then judge the damage from there.

back
Hover or tap any zone to read its grade and what was said about it.
Tap a zone for what was said about it. Edges and corners are one piece of cardboard seen from either side; quadrants are the two faces' own surfaces. A zone marked ? was described but never scored, so no number is claimed for it.
A subjective in-house review scored by quadrant, corner and side, not a third-party grade. This map is the card as it was on 2026-10-07, before any work. Eight of the twenty-four zones were given a number out loud; the sixteen marked ? were described but not scored, or were not reached, so no number is claimed for them. The Before figure of 8 is the whole-card grade Lucas gave on camera. The After figure of 8 is the grade Lucas gave the card on 2026-10-29, after the 24 hours in the press; the look on 2026-10-08 described it without a number, and the 8-to-9 he mentioned while clamping was an expectation, not a grade.

Why this card
The zone walk
- V1 6:17 Check First look: "that corner is perfect".

- V1 7:26 Check Front top: no whitening, very sharp. A small bend mark from storage.
- V1 8:10 Check Front top-right corner: a small imprint, perhaps from a card stacked in front.
- V1 8:42 Check Front right side: no whitening.
- V1 8:50 Check Front bottom-right corner: a slight lift.
- V1 8:55 Check "The right side gets a ten, bottom gets a nine and a half."

- V1 11:43 Check Back: a dark tint of dirt.
Dry wipe
Water and a roller on the edges
- V1 17:00 Work A little water on the edge rather than a full humidity bath.
- V1 17:13 Work The roller, to lay the edges down.
- V1 18:03 Check Before and after along one edge.
- V1 19:41 Check Kept local: the card should still feel vintage.
- V1 20:12 Work "You can tell that I rolled it ... probably did too much."
- V1 21:31 Check "Lesson learned, I need to take it easy on the side."
- V1 22:56 Check Getting uncomfortable with the results.
- V1 25:35 Check "Starting to look like somebody tried to press it."
- V1 26:33 Check "I don't want to alter it."
Polish, and into the press
- V1 27:23 Work Card Doc cleaner, then press for about an hour.
- V1 29:30 Work Front polished: the scratch is barely visible now.
- V1 29:59 Work The back polished.
- V1 32:14 Check Damage points on the back, "like varicose veins".
- V1 32:52 Check The whole card: "definitely eight, probably".
- V1 33:52 Work Parchment cut to card shape.
- V1 35:51 Work A high-pressure clamp, aimed at the corners.
- V1 36:21 Check Expected result: "from an 8 to a 9".
- V1 36:45 Check Deadpool and Cable are next.
Out of the press
- V2 0:01 Check 24 hours in the press.
- V2 0:26 Check "Looks practically brand new."
- V2 0:39 Check One small piece did not come out.
- V2 0:53 Check A slight dent.
- V2 0:58 Check The back edges look pretty good.
- V2 1:31 Work The rolled edge still shows; overall the card looks great.
- V2 2:04 Work In the light it looks rolled, which he does not want.
- V2 2:20 Check The lesson: clean and press only, then judge the damage.
Sessions (4 on record)
No defects recorded in this session (not a clean bill).
A test card: some of these binder cards carry a sticky substance or glue
, so I was going to do a test card on Sweet Miss Silver Sable here
05:41, just going to try to roll out some corners
05:58. The cards being prepared for grading are the Deadpool and Cable 03:37-03:47.
Walked top to bottom from 06:59. Top-left corner nine and a half, ten
07:21. Top: no whitening, looks fantastic, honestly ... very sharp, very crisp
07:26, then a little bit of a bend mark in there
, from the card leaning forward in storage, doesn't look like a compression
07:34-07:49. Top-right corner: a little bit of an imprint
, pressed in, maybe even a card that was sitting in front of it in a binder too long
08:10-08:34. Right side: no whitening. Beautiful
08:42. Bottom-right corner: a little bit of a lift. I wonder if putting it in a press is going to fix that
08:50. Top, the right side gets a ten, bottom, bottom gets a nine and a half
08:55. The bottom-right corner looked at again: imperceptible ... no dent. See if we can't get that out in the press
09:00-09:31. Bottom-left corner: the slight imperfection
09:31. Surface: a non-clean look
and a couple scrapes right there
09:53-10:01. Front's going to be an overall nine and a half
10:20.
From 10:48. Something there definitely needs to be rolled out ... I think that can be fixed
11:09. Corners: separation, so this could be fixed
11:15, and some discoloration
11:23. There's a bend on the top right corner on the back. So that's going to bring it down to like a six, five or six, but it could be fixed
11:31. A lot of dirt, just sort of a dark color tint
11:43. No whole-card figure was given at intake; it came at 32:52 (see the press session).
No defects recorded in this session (not a clean bill).
The first thing we always do is we clean and wipe it down
12:02, with a microfiber and a new disposable cloth 12:07 13:03. The front feels pretty clean
12:23; the back was dull, this is exactly what needed to be done
13:33-13:47. With the dirt off: looks like some damage right there
14:23, that would bring the value down for this card, for sure
14:50, and the back edges are going to get like a six, all the way around
14:56. Two spots, one on her face, were water spots from his gloves and wiped off 15:13 15:56-16:13.
From 16:29. A humidity bath would do well for this card, but I'm just going to apply some water to the edge
16:51-17:00, then the roller 17:13: these are fiber cards ... just want those edges to lay down
17:24-17:30. More water, excess wiped off, both faces 18:14-19:11. He kept it local on purpose: I don't want the whole card to be rehumidified
, it should still feel vintage 19:41-19:52. Done on the left side of the back and the right side of the front 20:00.
you can tell that I rolled it from here. Yeah, so probably did too much
20:12; did roll out that center pretty hard
20:53; this is definitely going to show
21:05; squeezed that a little too tight. So lesson learned, I need to take it easy on the side
21:31. The left side was left unpressed and the other pressed, as a comparison 21:43. A gentler pass with a different tool 22:02-23:41; getting uncomfortable with the results
22:56; a little bubble on it, and I don't want to exacerbate it
24:39-25:27; definitely starting to look like somebody tried to press it
25:35. The worst thing that can happen is I submit and these cards don't come back right, so I don't want to alter it
26:33.
No defects recorded in this session (not a clean bill).
Let's do our application and press it. So we're going to do our card doc cleaner
27:23. Planned press time about an hour; 24 hours is a normal go-to, but I'm kind of trying to just test different variables
27:37-27:55. Front polished: that scratch is gone, you can barely see it now
29:30. Back polished 29:59: like waxing a car ... more like a lubricant than anything
32:01. You still see those damage points ... looks like varicose veins. It's definitely damage
32:14-32:27.
this card was definitely eight, probably, even in its condition
, and to the eye it looks like a ten
32:52-33:00; the front is immaculate, something is stuck on the back 33:05.
Between parchment cut to card shape 33:52-34:18, under a high-pressure clamp 35:51, to focus right on the inside of those corners
36:05. His expectation, not a result: the extra work takes it from an 8 to a 9
36:21. The recording ends before the card comes out; Deadpool and Cable are named as the next two to work on 36:45-37:03.
No defects recorded in this session (not a clean bill).
After 24 hours on the press
R 00:01-00:08, not the hour planned. Looks practically brand new
R 00:26. That little piece up there didn't come out, though
R 00:39, and a slight dent
R 00:53. The back edges, part of the edge work, are looking pretty good
R 00:58-01:04. On the rolled edge: you can see right there, the little edge right there looks like it's been done, but overall, card looks great
R 01:31-01:36; the other side looks a little better ... still there, though
R 01:46-01:53. In the light, without magnification, it definitely looks like something has been rolled, and I don't want it to look like that
R 02:04-02:14.
my best bet is just to clean and press the cards and just see what kind of damage there is on them, then go from there
R 02:20-02:28. No number was spoken at this sitting.
